Opus says “Farewell” to the Summer Interns!

Opus was excited to welcome a crew of interns this summer! Sadly, their internships are ending. We’re reflecting on their time with us and getting excited for the next steps in their professional journeys! Here’s what our interns had to say about their Opus experiences:

Bodie Crist, Production Intern

“My favorite part of this internship was attending a site visit for a client’s upcoming 2-day conference in Chicago. It was so exciting to see everything in action, and it really helped me appreciate all the hard work I see around the office even more. It was also a great opportunity to get to know some of the people on the production team who I don’t regularly see in the Portland office.”

Ricardo Perez, Technical Project Manager Intern

“Through this internship I learned how to work with project management systems to update timelines and project details. Working with the technical project managers and technical producers also gave me the opportunity to learn about registration websites and event support systems. Most importantly, Opus has shown me the value of teamwork and how important it is to have a great team dynamic to ensure deadlines are met for client projects.”

Calista Mayer, Event Management Intern

“I’ve learned about so many aspects of events through this internship, including how to stay organized with event documents and schedules, and be assertive in vendor communications. A key takeaway for me is that it’s impossible to over-communicate! Always be proactive about requesting information from, and providing updates to teammates or vendors.”

Hillary Ellman, Event Coordinator Intern

“My favorite part of my internship was the willingness of people in different departments to take time out of their busy schedules to educate me about their roles within the company. It meant a lot that Maestros made time to simply improve my internship experience, and I loved learning about all the different roles here at Opus.”

Ashley Elisara, Strategy Intern

“I was able to make connections with those I worked with and felt like I was making strong contributions to the team as well as company goals. I felt like I could have a conversation with anyone in the office.”

Taylor Crowell, Event Management Intern

“I was put into real workstreams and took on key roles within an event from day one. My internship pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to learn from my mistakes as well as find my strengths along the way.”

Christen Cromer, Event Coordinator Intern

“I learned how to source vendors, contract traveling directors, interact with clients and, more broadly, what it takes to bring such complex and large-scale events to life.”

Dante Stewart, Creative Services Intern

“It’s amazing how much you can learn in such a short time period! For me, the key takeaway from this experience will be professional workflow. When you’re in school you have a safe little bubble where you have lots of time to slowly create your design, but the real world is fast-paced and constantly changing! Being here for just two months has pushed my design skill and showed me what to really focus on.”

The Opus team genuinely appreciates the fresh energy and perspectives the interns bring into the office. We’ll miss you guys!
