Five Ways to Be a Green Attendee

Five Ways to Be a Green Attendee

There’s never a bad time to work on reducing your carbon footprint. In honor of Earth Day, we put together a list of ways to get you started.

There’s never a bad time to work on reducing your carbon footprint. Why not start at an event? In honor of Earth Day, we put together a list of ways to get you started.

Recycle Hotel Toiletries

If you’re staying in a hotel while attending an event, save the complimentary toiletries that you don’t use. Bring them home with you and donate them to your local shelter or school. No contribution is too small! Take this effort one step further by volunteering or donating to Clean the World, an organization that sanitizes and recycles lightly used hygiene products discarded by the hospitality industry.

Opt Out of Room Service

Most hotels provide guests the option of opting out of room service. Reusing towels and avoiding turn down service conserves water and cleaning supplies. Some hotels offer rewards for opting out of room service, making this choice a win for you as well as the environment.

Bring a Reusable Water Bottle

Not every event will include a reusable water bottle in the swag they provide, so always bring your own just in case. Reduce waste and save cash on marked up water bottles at the same time. Don’t forget your travel coffee mug too!

Offset Your Travel

When flying to an event, check with your airline to see if they have an offset program. Delta Airlines has partnered with The Nature Conservancy to educate passengers on the effects that air travel has on the environment and gives passengers the opportunity to donate to the Conservancy. Once you’ve reached the city the event is taking place in, avoid calling a taxi. Get around by bike, foot, carpool, or public transportation.

Tell your Friends!

Share your sustainability efforts with friends, co-workers and fellow attendees.
