St Kilda Festival

The iconic St Kilda Festival is a celebration of community spirit, Australian talent, and the stunning St Kilda foreshore, bringing locals and visitors together annually since 1980.

For three years, Opus Agency has been tasked with managing production for the event, and we couldn’t be prouder to be part of this iconic celebration.

Delivery 

Hosted by the City of Port Phillip, this much-loved festival is staged over two days in February. It starts with a dedicated First Peoples’ Festival Day, featuring two stages and attracting over 25,000 people. Day 2, Big Festival Sunday, is a large-scale, multi-stage event, showcasing over 100 acts and welcoming an audience of over 350,000 people, making it arguably Australia’s largest community festival.

Opus Agency oversees all elements of technical, operations, logistics, and production planning, as well as the complex requirements that come with executing an outdoor event on this scale: emergency management, risk and safety compliance, and external stakeholder relationships with all Government agencies and Emergency Services.

Over the years, Opus Agency has been integral in supporting the festival’s vibrant community experience. 

  • Successfully coordinated hundreds of local suppliers and casual event staff. 
  • Streamlined complex relationships between external government agencies and internal City of Port Phillip departments.
  • Implemented new processes for internal stakeholder participation and understanding via Town Hall sessions.
  • Delivered cost efficiencies and budget management improvements in partnership with the Council.
  • Executed a comprehensive traffic management plan, effectively closing St Kilda for 24 hours without disruption.
  • Ensured seamless festival operations while maintaining the spirit and energy of this iconic community celebration.
